After entering the print industry in the early 1970s as a print shop apprentice, Angelo Rinaudo saw potential within the ever-evolving publishing market and co-founded Stampatre in 1984. Since then, the company has been able to establish a loyal customer base and continue to grow its business with the help of Canon’s high-speed monochrome printing technology.

A call for new technology

Producing up to 1,500 titles annually, Stampatre’s print runs can range from 200 copies for niche publications to 15,000 copies for books in high demand.

To maintain its reputation for consistently delivering on or ahead of schedule, Stampatre began the search for a reliable, robust and highly productive digital printer. Replicating the quality and efficiency of offset printing was also essential to finding the right printer for the business. The Canon varioPRINT 6000 TITAN has enabled them to fulfil the demands of both new and existing customers, offering cost effective, high quality and efficient delivery, as well as increasing its sustainability credentials.

The company had also previously faced challenges with the binding of shorter runs. By investing in the varioPRINT 6000 TITAN integrated in-line with a folding and stitching device, Stampatre resolved the issue and has been able to expand its business by providing a complete book production service. As a result, it can now accept jobs that it previously had to turn down, safeguarding both revenue and customer relationships.

What’s next?

The varioPRINT 6000 TITAN has enhanced Stampatre’s efficiency but has also reduced waste and scrap, bolstering the company’s sustainability efforts.

In the future, the business plans to shift more volume to Canon’s varioPRINT press and to explore how Canon’s continuous feed print engines can help to accelerate the transition from offset to digital printing.

We needed a digital technology that could replicate the quality of offset printing while allowing us to produce the first copy instantly, without the need for plates or start-up costs. The varioPRINT 6000 TITAN system delivers sharp, readable text with opacity comparable to offset, even on very lightweight uncoated and coated papers. This capability has enabled us to reduce our inventory and purchase paper directly from the mill."
