From April 2016 a new system was introduced, which allows the new lenses profiles for Canon cameras and software to be downloaded without needing to update EOS Utility / Digital Photo Professional each time.
When these applications are now installed the - EOS Lens Registration Tool - will also be installed.
Please Note:
* For Lenses with special specifications you may still require EOS Utility/ Digital Photo Professional to be updated.

The change to the lens profile system download system for new lenses started from the following versions of Canon software:
Please Note:
- When installing EU 3.4.20 or later, please also install the EOS Lens Registration Tool.
- When installing DPP 4.4.20 or later, both DPP and the EOS Lens Registration Tool will be installed.
Operability and conditions
When acquiring new lens data, EOS Utility/Digital Photo Professional operation is the same as before.
- EOS Utility: In Camera settings, when you click [Register lens aberration correction data], the EOS Lens Registration Tool will start up. At that time, if there is new lens data, it will be displayed.

- Digital Photo Professional: When you click [] from the lens correction tool palette, the [Add or Remove lens data] screen (EOS Lens Registration Tool) will be displayed and if there is new lens data, it will be displayed.
