Note:This solution applies to all models, please check if your Bubble Jet printer is using a USB or Parallel cable in a general way. It does not imply that all USB printers have drivers available for all of the available operating systems. Please make sure you have the appropriate driver for your operating system before starting the installation.

1. After turning on your computer and before inserting your printer Set-up Software and User's Guide CD-ROM that comes with your Bubble Jet printer (e.g. S300), close all applications including virus protection programs.
2. It is recommended to keep the printer turned off prior to starting the printer driver installation. You will be advised when to turn on the printer.
   • For USB:If the printer was already turned on and connected while your computer was on, click the appropriate button to cancel any windows that may have detected your printer, then press the Power button to turn off the printer.
   • For Parallel connection:If the printer was already turned on and connected while your computer was on then press the Power button to turn off the printer.
3. Confirm the printer cable is connected properly to the computer and to the printer.
4. For Windows NT 4.0 / 2000 / XP, log on to Windows as an Administrator before continuing.
   Note:Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 do not support an USB interface.
5. Insert the Set-up Software of your Bubble Jet printer (e.g. S300) and User's Guide CD-ROM into your computer's CD drive. Depending on how Windows is configured, the Set-up program will automatically launch.
   • If Set-up does not start automatically, from the taskbar, click Start and then Run.
   • In the Open box of Run window, type x:\msetup.exe (where X: is your CD drive). Then click OK.
6. Read the Welcome screen then click Next.
7. Read the License Agreement then click Yes.
8. When the main menu appears, click Install Software.
   Note:You may be prompted to restart Windows, remove the CD-ROM then click OK. After the computer restarts, insert the CD-ROM and continue.
9. Confirm the Printer Driver button is red then click Start. If the button is not red, click it then click Start. The printer driver will start loading automatically.
10. Wait until the Printer Port window appears, and then turn on the printer so the printer port connection can be detected. If the printer is not detected, press the Power button to turn off the printer. Confirm the printer cable is securely connected to the computer and the printer then press the POWER button.
11. Confirm the Terminate Installation window shows the Printer Driver successfully installed then click OK.
12. If you are prompted to restart your computer, click Yes. When installation and registration has completed, click Exit at the main menu and restart the computer if you have not done so already.
    Note:For registration and future reference, the serial number is located on the inside of the printer, to the right of the printhead.
13. For best quality printing, it is recommended to align the printhead.
