1. In the [Printer Property] dialog box, click the [Maintenance] tab, and then click [Start Status Monitor].
2. The [Status Monitor] dialog box is displayed. (The display may vary, depending on the printer model and status.)
3. Each Status Monitor setting can be performed from the [Option] menu in the [Status Monitor] dialog box.

   [Menu explanation]

   • * Enable Status Monitor: When this option is not checked, the Status Monitor will not start.
   • * Always Display Current Job: When printing, the Status Monitor dialog box will be displayed. Always Display on Top: The Status Monitor dialog box will be displayed in the foreground.
   • * Display Warning Automatically: When the remaining ink warning error occurs, the Status Monitor dialog box will be automatically displayed.
   • Start when Windows is Started: When Windows starts up, the Status Monitor dialog box will start simultaneously.

   Note: * mark = Default setting is ON.

   Note: When using the default settings, unless an error such as the remaining ink warning occurs, the pop-up menu will not be displayed and the [Status Monitor] icon will be displayed on the task bar.

   The [Status Monitor] icon may vary, depending on the version of driver.

4. When not displaying the [Status Monitor] dialog box, deselect [Enable Status Monitor] from the [Option] menu to remove the checkmark.

   Note: The Status Monitor displays important information required for printing, and should be selected for best results.

4. When not displaying the [Status Monitor] dialog box, please perform the following steps.
   • In the printer's [Properties] dialog box, click the [Details] tab, and then click [Spool Settings]
   • Select [Disable bi-directional support for this printer], and then click [OK]. The Status Monitor will not start.

     Note: The status monitor displays important information required for printing, and should be selected for best results.

     Note: If [Disable bi-directional support for this printer is selected], and [Start Status Monitor] is selected on the [Maintenance] tab, the "Printer not responding. Please make settings for bi-directional communication." error message will be displayed.
