Why is my scanner not scanning the entire A4 page?

FAQ ID: 19305

Release date: 11 July 2008

Helpful Information

This result is caused by the printer and not the scanner.

A4 flatbed scanners are capable of scanning an entire A4 page from edge to edge, however most printers have an "unprintable area" on each edge ranging from a few millimeters up to about 25mm depending on the make and model.

Solution

When using the Copy facility in the scanner software, the resulting image on the print is shifted on the page by a few millimeters when compared with the original.

This means the scanned image must be shifted across on the final print, as the print will place the scanned image into its printable area.
