When you set your printer in the access point mode, you can print wirelessly and directly from an external device such as a smartphone without using an access point.

Before Starting Access Point Mode Setup
1. Make sure that the printer is turned on.
2. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button until the Alarm lamp flashes 3 times.
3. Release the Wi-Fi button.
When the ON lamp changed from flashing to lit, the access point mode is enabled.
4. Load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper.
5. Press and hold the Stop button until the Alarm lamp flashes 15 times.
6. Release the Stop button.
The machine starts printing the network setting information.
7. In the Wi-Fi setting screen of an external device such as a smartphone, select SSID and enter password to establish a connection between your printer and the external device.
The Wi-Fi setting screen will vary according to the device you use. (This is an example of an iOS device.)
To print or scan from an external device such as a smartphone, you need to use the application software, "PIXMA Printing Solutions."
Download and install this free application software from App Store or Google Play.
Following the procedures below, select the printer to use and perform printing or scanning:
1. On the screen of an external device such as a smartphone, tap the PIXMA Print icon . PIXMA printing Solutions will start.
2. On the PIXMA Printing Solutions screen, tap the printer icon .
3. Tap [ Detect Printer ].
4. In the screen, select the printer you use.
5. When the selected printer name is displayed under the printer icon, the settings are completed.
6. Tap the button you would like to perform.
