Before connecting this printer to the network, confirm the following two items, (A) and (B).
(A) Wireless router (supporting IEEE802.11b/g/n)
Your wireless router is the device that connects the network devices in your home (computer, printer, and so on) to the Internet and allows communication between those devices on your home network. A wireless router is necessary for the procedure described here. To use your printer over a wireless connection, your wireless router must already be set up.
(B) The computer to be used with the printer must be connected to the network.
In order to confirm whether the computer to be used with the printer is connected to the network, try to browse the Internet website from the computer.
In most cases, you can use the printer in wireless connection using this setup method.
(A) Wireless router (supporting IEEE802.11b/g/n)

A wireless router is necessary for the procedure described here. To use your printer over a wireless connection, your wireless router must already be set up.

Before Starting Wireless Connection Setup
1. Hold down the Wi-Fi button (A) on the printer until the POWER lamp (B) flashes 2 times, then release the Wi-Fi button after the second flash.
2. Make sure that the Wi-Fi lamp (C) is flashing quickly and the POWER lamp is lit as seen in the diagram below.
Now, the printer is ready for wireless LAN connection in the "Cableless setup" method.
The connection between the printer and the wireless router is not yet complete. To complete the connection, a software install is necessary.
Install the software.
1. Visit http://canon.com/ijsetup/.
2. Select your region, printer name, and computer OS.
3. In the Product Setup section, click Download. The setup file will be downloaded.
4. Double-click the downloaded .exe file.
The setup will start automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.
5. Click [ Next ].
6. Click [ Wireless LAN Connection ].
7. Click [ Next ].
8. Click [ Cableless setup ].
9. Click [ Next ].
Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.
10. When the Setup Completion dialog box appears, click [ Complete ].
11. Click [ Next ].

12. Click [ Exit ] to complete the installation.
Wireless LAN setup using "cableless setup" is now complete.
1. Visit http://canon.com/ijsetup/.
2. Select your region, printer name, and computer OS.
3. In the Product Setup section, click [ Download ]. The setup file will be downloaded.
4. Double-click the downloaded .dmg file.
5. Double-click the [ Setup ] icon.
6. Click [ Next ].
7. In the subsequent screen, enter the administrator name and password. Then click [ Install Helper ].
8. Click [ Next ].
9. Click [ Wireless LAN Connection ].
10. Click [ Next ].
11. Click [ Cableless setup ].
12. Click [ Next ].
Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.
13. Click [ Add Printer ].
14. Select [ Canon xxx series Canon IJ Network ] and click [ Add ].
15. Click [ Next ].
16. Click [ Next ].

17. Click [ Exit ] to complete the installation.
Remove the Setup CD-ROM and keep it in a safe place.
Wireless LAN setup using "cableless setup" is now complete.
Does your wireless router have WPS functionality?
Check if your wireless router has a WPS button.
Before Starting Wireless Connection Setup
1. Make sure that the button on the wireless router is ready to be pressed.
2. Hold down the Wi-Fi button (A) on the printer until the POWER lamp (B) flashes once, then release the Wi-Fi button after the flash.
3. Make sure that the Wi-Fi lamp (C) flashes quickly and the POWER lamp is lit as shown in the illustration on the right above, then press and hold the button on the wireless router within 2 minutes.
4. Make sure that the Wi-Fi lamp and the POWER lamp are lit.
The wireless LAN setup using WPS is completed.
Install the software.

- Press the button on only one wireless router.
- Check the security settings of the wireless router.
Is the network device (router, etc.) turned on? If the network device is already turned on, turn it off, then turn it back on.
After checking the points described below, wait for a while and configure wireless connection settings again.
- Are the computer and network device configured?
- Are the wireless router and printer installed in an open space where wireless communications are possible?
- Is the wireless router operating in IEEE802.11n (2.4 GHz), IEEE802.11g or IEEE802.11b?
