The IP address has a problem.

The IP address is not set properly.

Solution

The IP address is not set properly.

<Solution 1>
Check the network connection status using the following procedure and the PING command.
1. Run Command Prompt or MS-DOS Prompt.
If you are using UNIX, display the console screen.
2. Enter "ping (a space) <the IP address of the printer>", then press the [ENTER] key on your keyboard.

  • Input Example: "Ping 192.168.0.215"

3. If the IP address is set properly, the following command (indicating that the signals are sent four times and are received four times successfully) is displayed.
  • Reply from <the IP address of the printer> ...

If any command like the following commands is displayed, see Solution 2 below.
  • Destination Host Unreachable
  • Request Timed Out


NOTE
If you are using UNIX
  • Display the console screen.

If you are not sure about the IP address of the printer
  • Consult your network administrator.

If you are using Windows
  • Run Command Prompt or MS-DOS Prompt using the following procedures.


From the [Start] menu, select [Programs] → [Accessories] → [Command Prompt].

From the [Start] menu, select [All Programs] → [Accessories] → [Command Prompt].

<Solution 2>
Before setting the IP address using DHCP, RARP, or BOOTP, make sure that the protocol is running.


NOTE
If this printer cannot be detected even when the above setting is correct
  • If you delay the startup time for the network, this may solve the problem. (For details on the procedure for setting the startup time, see "User's Guide" (HTML manual) in the CD-ROM supplied with the printer.)
